Let me tell you a story to chill the bones
about a things that I saw
One night wandering in the everglades

Feeling scared and I fell to my knees
As something rushed me from the trees
Took me to an unholy place

Then they summoned me over to join in with them

In to the circle of fire I followed them
In to the middle I was led

As if time had stopped still I was numb with fear
But still I wanted to go
And the blaze of the fire did no hurt upon me
As I walked onto the coals

And I felt I was in a trance
And my spirit was lifted from me
And if only someone had the chance
To witness what happened to me

And I danced and I pranced and I sang with them
All had death in their eyes
Lifeless figures they were undead all of them
They had ascended from hell

As I danced with the dead
my free spirit was laughing and howling down at me
Below my undead body just danced the circle of dead

Until the time came to reunite us both
My spirit came back down to me
I didn't know if I was alive or dead
As the others all joined in with me

By luck then a skirmish started
And took the attention away from me
When they took their gaze from me
Was the moment that I fled

I ran like hell faster than the wind
But behind I did not glance
One thing that I did not dare
Was to look just straight ahead

When you know that your time has come around
You know you'll be prepared for it
Say your last goodbyes to everyone
Drink and say a prayer for it

Povyprávím vám příběh, při kterém mrazí až v kostech.
O věcech, co jsem viděl,
jedné noci když jsem se procházel močálem.
Měl jsem jeden drink, ale ne víc.

Jen jsem tak bloumal, užíval si jasného měsíčního světla,
civěl jsem na hvězdy.
Nevědouc o něčí přítomnosti, tak blízko,
sledujíc každý můj pohyb.

Vyděšeně jsem padl na kolena,
jak mě vyrušilo něco z křoví.
Vzalo mě to na bezbožné místo,
a tam jsem tehdy upadl v nemilost.

Pak mě vyzvali, abych se k nim připojil,
k tanci mrtvých.
Následoval jsem je do ohnivého kruhu,
doprostřed jsem byl veden.

A čas jako by se zastavil, byl jsem ochromený strachem, ale stále sem chtěl odejít.
A žár ohně mi neublížil,
když jsem vstoupil na uhlíky.

A cítil jsem se jakoby v tranzu,
a můj duch byl ze mě vytažen.
A kdyby měl někdo příležitost,
být svědkem toho, co se mi stalo .

A já tančil, a já skákal, a já s nimi zpíval,
všichni měli v očích smrt.
Postavy bez života, všichni byli nemrtví,
všichni byli sesláni z pekel.

Když jsem tančil s mrtvými, můj svobodný duch se smál,a dolů na mě pokřikoval.
Pod mým nemrtvým tělem zrovna tančil kruh mrtvých.

Než nastal čas sjednocení,
můj duch se do mě vrátil .
Nevěděl jsem zda jsem živý nebo mrtvý,
jak do mě ostatní vstoupili.

Naštěstí pak začala šarvátka,
a odvrátili ode mě svou pozornost.
A když na mě nedávali pozor,
v ten moment jsem utekl.

Běžel jsem jako o život , rychleji než vítr,
neohlížel jsem se.
Jediná věc, co mě v tu chvíli napadla,
bylo koukat se jen přímo vpřed.

Když víš, že nadešel tvůj čas,
víš, že budeš na to připravený.
Se všemi se rozluč,
připij a pomodli se.

Když ležíš ve spánku, když ležíš ve své posteli.
A když se vzbudíš ze snu a pak tančíš s mrtvými.

Dodnes si myslím, že se nikdy nedozvím,
proč mě nechali jen tak jít.
Ale už nikdy nepůjdu tančit,
